Celebrating 50 Years of Excellence

Celebrating 50 Years of Excellence
5:08

This year, Bus Climate Control (BCC) joins Mobile Climate Control (MCC) in celebrating 50 years of innovation, progress, and partnership in bus climate excellence! Together with our sister company, we’re marking this milestone by reflecting on key moments in our history and recognizing the customers who drive our progress, along with the dedicated employees—some with us for decades—who have helped shape who we are today.

Building on decades of HVAC expertise that originated with MCC, we continue to carry that legacy forward. From pioneering advanced climate solutions for bus and shuttle OEMs to developing cutting-edge electrification solutions, every breakthrough has been driven by our commitment to innovation, reliability, and customer-focused solutions.

“We may be a new brand, but we’re not new,” says Steve Preisler, President of BCC. “Our team has decades of experience, and we’re committed to delivering smarter, more adaptable climate solutions for buses worldwide.”

A Legacy of Innovation

MCC’s history began within a family-owned business, Klimatsystem AB, with BCC’s roots stemming back to the Carrier Transicold Bus organization, which MCC acquired in 2011. Like two mighty rivers coming together, the acquisition of Carrier by MCC united diverse expertise, shaping the teams we have today. Over the years, we've grown both organically and through acquisitions, adding new expertise and scale at each phase.

One of our most defining moments was the launch of BCC as an independent brand in 2023, bringing renewed focus to climate control solutions specifically for buses. This move solidified our commitment to innovation, particularly in electrification and modular platforms that integrate seamlessly with virtually every kind of bus and shuttle on the market.

Engineering the Future of Bus Climate Control

As a global producer of in-vehicle heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration solutions, BCC has remained at the forefront of industry advancements. The shift from conventional engines to alternative power sources—including electric, hybrid, and hydrogen—has been a defining catalyst for innovation, reshaping how we design, manufacture, and implement climate control solutions.

Meeting the demands of next-generation vehicles required a complete transformation, prioritizing high-voltage safety with extensive employee training and advanced facility protocols. New factory measures, such as automated shut-off zones and perimeter monitoring, have ensured the highest standards of protection for workers handling electrified components. At the same time, significant R&D investments have driven the evolution of our product offerings, making BCC a leader in this transition.

Beyond electrification, we continue to push the boundaries of climate control technology. Our high-performance blower wheels have enhanced airflow efficiency, while the industry’s first transition from metal to plastic housings has set new standards for durability and weight reduction. These innovations not only improve system performance but also contribute to the overall efficiency and sustainability of modern transit fleets.

What’s Next for BCC?

Looking ahead, even more exciting milestones are on the horizon. As we continue to grow, we are refining our processes and embracing digital transformation to drive efficiencies that strengthen collaboration with our customers and dealer network. At the same time, we’re expanding our smart systems and modular approach, making it easier for OEM customers to configure their vehicle platforms while maintaining cost efficiency and quality.

As we celebrate five decades of progress, our focus remains on the road ahead as we advance smarter, more adaptable solutions that will shape the future of transportation. Here’s to the next 50 years!
